Description

Shrub up to 1.5 m tall with reddish-brown branches, at a young age with silky pubescent leaves. The leaves are complicated, non-pinnate, with 5-7 often oblong leaves, not densely pubescent above, densely pubescent below along the veins and edge. Flowers are single or in small racemes or corymbose inflorescences, up to 3 cm in diameter, with rounded bright yellow petals. The plant is bisexual, but in the highlands it is most often dioecious. Fruits-nuts dry, numerous, small. The plant forms thickets. In nature, Shrubby Cinquefoil develops slowly, only reaching 80-120 cm in height by 20-40 years. At the same age blooms. Flowering is long (July-August), the fruit ripens in August-September. Germination of full-fledged seeds is over 80%.

It grows in Siberia region. It grows along the valleys of mountain rivers, along the pebble-sand banks of these rivers and the slopes of mountains.

Chemical composition:

The plant got its name because in the past the leaves and flowers were dried and used as tea by people living on the territory from the Urals to the Kuril Islands. Leaves, flowers and roots are used for medicinal purposes. Harvest the tops of plants. Tannins, quinones, and 689 mg flavonoids (quercetin, kaempferol, cyanidin), ellagic, caffeic, synaptic, and ferulic acids were found in the leafy branches. In leaves, bark and wood lot, and the little flowers of tannins attributable to gallotannin and kotahitanga. Ascorbic acid (0.04%), vitamin PP and carotene, as well as about 20% of tannins and aromatic substances were found in dry stems and leaves. Fresh leaves contain 145.9-223 mg, and dry 292.4-380.4 mg of ascorbic acid and respectively 8.53 and 15.12 mg of carotene. According to other studies, 266-268 mg% ascorbic acid was found in dried leaves.

Application

Preparations of Kuril tea have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, hemostatic, expectorant and choleretic effects.

Decoction of medicinal branches, leaves and flowers is used for diarrhea, dysentery, inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as as an expectorant for croup inflammation of the lungs, pulmonary tuberculosis.

Observations have shown that Kuril tea is a remedy for dysbacteriosis (including staphylococcal etiology), normalizes metabolism and relieves nighttime urinary incontinence.

Taking infusions of Kuril tea does not cause constipation; it has a positive effect on cystitis, duodenitis, and also as a sedative for stress conditions.

Root infusion residents of Kamchatka use for uterine bleeding, in the form of douches - for pain, for rinsing the mouth and throat, in the past used for scurvy.

Decoction of leaves and flowers is used for diseases of the liver and gall bladder as a choleretic, and for colds, feverish conditions - as a diaphoretic.

In Mongolia, an infusion of leaves and flowers is used for bloody diarrhea, as a hemostatic and appetite-enhancing agent, as well as for blood diseases and various neuropsychiatric diseases. Tibetan medicine uses flowers, roots and branches for gastrointestinal diseases.

Methods of application

1. 2 tablespoons of dry crushed tops of plants with flowers for 0.5 liters of water; boil in a closed container for 7-8 minutes on low heat, insist for 2 hours, strain. Take 1/3 glass 3-4 times a day 30 minutes before meals if you have a poor appetite.

2. 1 tablespoon of dried leaves of Kuril tea to 1 glass of water; boil in a closed container for 5-6 minutes, infuse for 2 hours, strain. Take 2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day before meals for colds.

3. 1 tablespoon of crushed roots of Kuril tea to 1 glass of water; boil in a closed enameled dish for 10 minutes on low heat, infuse for 2 hours, strain. Take 30 minutes before meals 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day for anemia.
