Description

Perennial grey-green pubescent plant. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate. Flower baskets are dry, small, spherical, lemon-yellow or orange, collected in dense corymbose panicles. The whole plant has a peculiar smell. Due to dry baskets, it is called immortelle and is used for long keeping flower bouquets. Height 15 – 30 cm.

Chemical composition

The flowers contain bitter and tannic substances, various flavonoids, sterols, colorants, carotene (provitamin A), ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and essential oil, which contain n-cresol, capronic acid, etc. The herb contains tannins, menadiol (vitamin K) and essential oil.

Application

Dwarf everlast — an ancient folk medicine. The infusion and decoction of flowers have a choleretic, diuretic, diaphoretic, expectorant, "blood purifying", hemostatic, antiseptic, analgesic, anthelmintic and insecticidal effect. Decoction and infusion of flower baskets are used for jaundice, various diseases of the liver, bladder and urinary tract, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, especially children's colitis, and are used to expel round worms.

In folk medicine of Central Asia, the decoction is taken for stomach disorders and thinness. In folk medicine of the Karachay-Cherkess region, immortelle is part of the fees used for kidney diseases, shortness of breath and headaches. In German folk medicine, cumin is used for kidney stones, kidney and bladder diseases, dropsy and difficult painful urination. A decoction of immortelle is also taken for inflammation of the nerve fibers, especially for sciatica, and nervous pain with numbness of the legs. Clinical studies have shown that the decoction and infusion of immortelle stimulate the secretion of bile and urine, enhance the secretory activity of the stomach and pancreas, and increase blood pressure.

In scientific medicine, decoction of flower baskets is used for acute and inflammatory diseases of the liver, gall bladder and bile ducts (cholecystitis, cholangitis, hepatocholecystitis). Decoction of immortelle reduces sickness and pain in the liver and gall bladder and removes skin staining. Noticeable improvement usually occurs on the 3rd-4th day of application of the decoction. It was found that the preparations of immortelle are low-toxic. Externally, the decoction of flowers is used for some skin diseases. Flower baskets of immortelle are part of choleretic collections. From baskets also produce a dry, purified from ballast substances extract of immortelle-the medicine flamin. Flower baskets of immortelle, put in clothes, protect it from moths. Baskets of plants are sometimes used to get a beautiful Golden-yellow paint.

Method of usage

1. 1 tablespoon of flower baskets cumin boil in a closed container in 2 cups of water, insist 1/2 hour, strain. Broth takes warm 1/2 glass 3 times a day for 1/2 hour before meals for 10 to 15 days.

2. 3 teaspoons of flower baskets of immortelle infuse 2-3 hours in 2 cups of boiled cold water, strain. Take 1/2 glass 4 times a day 1/2 hour before meals.
