Description

Perennial herbaceous plant of the Araliaceae family. The height of the aboveground part is 80-100 cm. The root of a light yellow color can reach 25-30 cm in length and have several processes that thicken with age. Because of these processes, the root resembles a human figure, which is why it got its name. "Ginseng" is translated from Chinese As "human root". The plant's life span can reach 100 years. At the same time, ginseng grows very slowly. In the wild, the growth of root mass is on average 1 gram per year! In conditions of artificial cultivation of ginseng is growing by an average of 10 grams per year.

Common ginseng grows wild in the Russian far East, China, and Korea. Due to its increased extraction and deforestation, cases of finding ginseng in natural conditions are rare, and fishing for wild ginseng is currently almost non-existent. Ginseng has been successfully cultivated in China and Korea for more than 100 years, and there are also ginseng plantations in Russia.

Application

Ginseng root is used primarily as an alcohol tincture, but it can be used as an additive in tea, as part of ointments, pills, powders. The following is a recipe for making ginseng root tincture.

Recipe of tincture of ginseng root:

The root (or several small ones) weighing 40-50 g should be filled with cold water (boiled, sweet) for 3-4 hours, cut, put in 500 ml of 40% alcohol and insist for 17-20 days in a dark place.

Take 1 time a day 30 minutes before meals, 10 ml, with water. As you consume alcohol, top up within 2 weeks. The course of admission is 90 days, with two breaks of 10 days. This course can be repeated only in a year.
