Dandelion root

Description

A perennial herb with a leafless flower stem (arrow). Leaves are basal, in the form of a rosette, notched-pinnate. Flower baskets are Golden-yellow, consisting of ligate flowers with a tuft (special hairs that form a fly in the fruit). Fruits-achenes with a tuft. Height 10 – 30 cm.

The time of flowering. April-August.

Distribution. It is found almost everywhere in Russia, except in the Arctic area.

Habitat. It grows in fields, meadows, gardens, forests, along roads, near housing, on railway embankments.

The part used. Roots, leaves, grass, juice.

The time of collection. Leaves, grass and juice are collected in April – August, roots-in early spring or late autumn.

Chemical composition

The roots and leaves contain the bitter glucoside, resin, rubber, inuline, sugar, fatty oil, mucus, asparagine, choline, organic acids, calcium and potassium salts, coloring substances — various carotenoids, vitamins and other substances. The roots also contain triterpenoids connections — taraxasterol, sterols (sitosterol, stigmasterol). In the flower baskets and leaves are carotenoids — taraxacin, lutein, triterpene alcohols. The leaves also contain saponins, vitamin C, iron, calcium and phosphorus.

Method of application

1. 1 teaspoon of dandelion roots and herbs infuse 1 hour in 1 cup of boiling water, strain. Take 1/4 cup 4 times a day 1/2 hour before meals.

2. dandelion root milk-govan (take a dose that fits on the tip of a knife) take with water 3 times a day for 1/2 hour before meals.
