Description

Calendula (pot marigold) is a herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae family. The plant is common in temperate climates of Europe, Asia, and Australia. At the moment, it is grown mainly on plantations to obtain medicinal raw materials, which are the flowers of the plant. Calendula flowers are used to make tinctures, ointments, and dry flowers are used for making tea, decoctions, and infusions. There are many decorative types of calendula that adorn gardens and parks.

Application

With the purpose of treatment is used herb (stems, leaves, flowers), inflorescence. In folk medicine, calendula is used both externally (herb juice, oil ointment, decoctions) and internally (infusions, decoctions) for many diseases: malignant tumours, ulcers, as a diuretic and diaphoretic, stimulating, anticonvulsant, stimulating regula, wound healing. Also, the petals of Calendula flowers have long been used in cooking as an inexpensive substitute for saffron, because when added to a dish, they give it a rich yellow-orange colour. Pot Marigold flower tea is an excellent remedy for the treatment and prevention of colds, stomach diseases, and body cleansing. In herbal collections, Pot Marigold is perfectly combined with Chamomile, St. John's Wort, Mint, Oregano.

Method of application

1. 1 tablespoon of crushed dry grass per 1 cup of boiling water, infused for 2 hours, strain. Take 1-2 tablespoons 3 times a day as a diuretic for hypertension.

2. 3 tablespoons of inflorescences for 2 cups of water boil for 3-4 minutes on low heat, insist for 1 hour, strain. Take 1/4-1/3 cup 3 times a day for rheumatism.

3. 1 tablespoon of crushed dry leaves per 1 cup of boiling water infuses for 1 hour, strain. Taking 3-4 times a day for 1/3-1/2 cup in a warm form slowly sips as a diaphoretic for flu, pneumonia.
