Description

Habitat. Due to its unpretentiousness and winter hardiness, Aronia (black chokeberry) is introduced in almost all ecologo geographic regions of our country, even in those where it is difficult to cultivate other fruit and berry crops. For example, Aronia yields stable crops in the Northern regions of the European part, in the harsh conditions of Western and Eastern Siberia, Eastern Kazakhstan and the Urals. The cost of creating industrial plantations of Aronia in different farms of the country is quickly recouped. Propagate Aronia seeds, vertical and horizontal layering, Bush division, root shoots, green cuttings and grafting.

Storage. Aronia is described by a number of valuable features: annual good fruiting, early onset of fruiting, a long productive period, preservation of fruits after maturation on bushes until frost, good winter hardiness, low soil requirements, responsiveness to fertilizers, good ability to reproduce. When collecting fruits, you do not need to hurry, since they begin to turn black quite early, and the best taste qualities are acquired later, in September. But at this time, you need to take care of preserving the fruit from birds.

Drying. Fresh fruits are transported in fruit and vegetable boxes weighing up to 40 kg in refrigerators or in conventional cars and ordinary cars, if the journey does not exceed 3 days. At reception points, fruits are stored for no more than 3 days from the date of collection. Shelf life at a temperature not higher than 5°C up to 2 months. Chemical composition

Fresh fruit contains cyanide glycosides, flavanone glycosides hesperidin, flavonol rutin, free quercetin, and some other flavonoids. There are catechins and tannins, ascorbic acid (about 110 mg/100 g), vitamins B1, B6, E, PP, organic acids (0.8%), trace elements (salts of molybdenum, manganese, copper, boron), carotenoids and up to 10% of sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose).

Application

Fresh fruits are prescribed for the prevention of P-vitamin deficiency, treatment of stage I and II hypertension and other diseases accompanied by increased blood pressure. Take 100 g 3 times a day; the course of treatment is 10-30 days.The Aronia juice is used in the initial stage of hypertension, bleeding of various origins, atherosclerosis, antacid gastritis. Aronia fruits are taken for hepatitis, allergies, and poisoning. Fruits are contraindicated in patients with increased blood clotting, as well as in gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer and hyperacidic state of the stomach.
