Description

A perennial herb with a branched rhizome, thin cylindrical ribbed stems. The leaves are narrowly linear, dark green, sharp, arranged whorl-like in eight to twelve pieces. The flowers are very small, honey-scented, Golden-yellow, collected in long thick panicles. Height 15 – 80 cm.

Chemical composition

Unexplored. It is known that the plant contains the glucoside asperuloside.

Application

This bedstraw is widely used in folk medicine. The plant has astringent, diuretic, hemostatic, "blood purifying", anti-inflammatory, analgesic and wound healing effects and the property of calming the nervous system. An infusion of herbs with flowers, used for diarrhea, stomach pain, jaundice, kidney and liver diseases, dropsy, various nervous diseases-epilepsy, hysteria, children's convulsions and skin diseases. For these diseases are also drunk and fresh juice of the bedstraw. With bloody diarrhea with a sharp pain in the stomach, take the grass powder.

Externally, the herb infusion is used for baths, washings, lotions and compresses for scrofula, skin rashes, boils, wounds and ulcers. When scrofula, abscesses and teals are used and ointment from the grass (grass with flowers rubbed with butter). For rapid healing of burns, ulcers and bleeding wounds, they are sprinkled with flower powder. When nosebleeds are drawn into the nose juice or strong infusion of herbs.

Method of application

1 tablespoon of dry grass with bedstraw flowers, infuse for 4 hours in 2 cups of boiling water, strain. Take 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day before meals. A stronger infusion is used for baths and washings for skin diseases and wounds.
