Description

Coniferous monoecious tree with reddish-brown bark, pairs of long needles and seeds located in a cone on the seed scales. Height up to 40 m.

The time of flowering. June.

Habitat. It grows on sandy and sandy loam soils.

The part used. Needles, young shoots called "buds".

The time of collection. "Buds" are collected in the spring, needles-in June.

Chemical composition

"Buds" and needles contain resin, tannins (5%), bitter substance , mineral salts, resinous substance, ascorbic acid - vitamins:C (ascorbic acid), B2, K, carotene (provitamin A) and essential oil (up to 1.3%). The composition of the essential oil includes α-pinene, limonene, boras camphor, bornyl acetate, cadinene, etc.

Application

Pine is widely used in folk medicine in many countries. Decoction of pine "Buds" has an expectorant, antimicrobial, bactericidal, diuretic, choleretic, anti-scurvy and "blood-purifying" effect. Decoction of "Buds" is taken for chronic bronchitis, other respiratory diseases, dropsy, gout, rheumatism, rickets and as a choleretic and especially as an anti-scurvy agent. Decoction of " Buds "is also used as a" blood purifier " for impaired metabolism, accompanied by various skin diseases. Alcohol tincture of pine "Buds" in the form of drops with water is used for tuberculosis of the lungs.

Vapors of decoction of "Buds" are anti-inflammatory, disinfecting and easing breathing means for coughing and are used for inhalation of the respiratory tract. Pine "buds" are part of breast tea and are also used for baths. From pine wood, turpentine is obtained, which is used as a skin irritant for colds, rheumatism, gout, and neuralgic pain. Turpentine is also used as an antiparasitic agent. Turpentine is produced from terpin hydrate effectively used in cough. Pine needles produce coniferous chlorophyll-carotene paste, used for burns, ulcers and various skin diseases, and also get essential pine oil. Method of application

1. 10 g of pine "buds" boil in 1 glass of water in a closed container, insist for 2 hours, strain. Take 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day as an expectorant, disinfectant and diuretic.

2. 15 g tops of young pine shoots boil in 1/2 liter of milk infuse for 2 hours, strain. Take in 3 doses during the day.

3. 4 cups of winter pruned needles pour 2.25 cups of cooled boiled water, acidify 2 teaspoons of diluted hydrochloric acid. Insist 3 days in a dark place, strain. Take 1/2 glass 2 times a day, sweetening to taste, as a vitamin infusion.

4. 0.5-1 kg of young pine shoots boil in a closed container for 10 minutes in 3 liters of water, insist for 4 hours, strain. Decoction is used for baths at a temperature of 34°C.
